While the performing was satisfying, the top-40 repertoire was not an adequate forum for artistic expression. Ever since hearing Ella Fitzgerald, Zahn said she knew jazz was her musical home, but the economic realities made for inevitable trade-offs.
Today she is trying to tip the equation. |
