Bruce Morrison
by Marcy Stamper
Bruce Morrison carves human and natural forms that emerge like spontaneous outgrowths from the core of twisted trunks or that nestle comfortably within the delicate grain of a long cedar panel.
He may start with a charred or contorted stump of wood, which he lives with, waiting for a sculptural form to suggest itself. At other times, he balances the design he is carving with the tactile characteristics of the grain.
The resulting sculptural forms are a tangible expression of Morrison |
