M.A.W. The Methow Asylum for Writers Insert Debuts

In accordance with its mission to provide professional platforms for local writers -- to help raise the bar, to increase exposure, and to better ones chance of being taken seriously and getting published above and beyond the local scene -- the recently established Methow Asylum for Writers (M.A.W.) will compile and publish a four-page insert of local poetry, prose, and illustration in the summer 2013 ART magazine.

Drawing on a diversity of writing, publishing, and promotional experience, the M.A.W. mission is “to help writers in the Methow Valley improve, publish, perform, network, and feel confident in exercising their creative courage” says founding poet and fiction writer, Patrick McGann.

Under the leadership of Patrick, poet, Abbie Miller, and journalist/blogger, Georgina Tobiska, this newly formed collective also hopes to host regular meetings, salons, workshops and open mike sessions where local writers can put their prose into action and feel supported by the greater Methow writing community.

For the insert, MAW is seeking poetry, 50-word prose poems, Flash fiction under 250 words, short fiction under 1000 words, creative non-fiction under 1,000 words. M.A.W is also looking for two additional members to round out its board of directors.
